I regularly have this same issue with Synchrony's credit card website as well as my Home Depot Citi site.
It is, I think, related to anti-bot defenses built into the site to keep DDOS or password brute force attacks from being too automated.
I use to have the same issue at Fidelity, but it seems to have gotten better.
It is a bitwarden specific thing, if you google passwords, it seems to be less likely to happen.
I have gotten a habit/nervous tick to ALWAYS tab through the login and password fields before hitting enter. That seems to keep the demon away.
It happened a long time ago at Vanguard, and it may still happen but the tabbing habit seems have made it almost never fail.
PS: Actually testing it just now, I see the "Error: please enter a response" in red until I tab through. no manual data entry.
