Dentist here. I agree with the above that you want to find a provider first and work backwards. Last thing you want to do is sign up for a plan only to be left with poor provider options.
It is also worth asking about a discount for prepayment in full instead of paying over the course of treatment. We lease space to an orthodontist in our building. They are not in network with any carriers but will give a decent discount for paying in full at the start of treatment if they don't have to deal with an insurance company (ie you submit OON claims yourself).
