Personal Consumer Issues • Home Generator - Worth It?

The article didn't say the west coast of Washington would disappear into the ocean.
It says "everything west of Interstate 5 will be toast."

Seismologists that study this fault laugh at that statement, they said the coast will be hit hard, but even Seattle won't see a huge tsunami due to how the straights and Puget Sound will blunt the wave action. Damage yes, everything west of I5 destroyed, click bait hype.

And like I said, if that earthquake happens, you won't be able to get more Fossil fuel than what you already have on hand. This means a full home generator only buys you a little time. Plus, if you're not already at home, you may not be able to get back there easily. And an earthquake is a surprise event, you may have no time to prepare. An eruption, sort of like a hurricane, can be avoided or prepared for in advance.

When the power goes out and the infrastructure is damaged, it can also be a while for gas stations to get back to pumping fuel, and new delivers may be significantly delayed. I lived in Monroe, there was a bad snowstorm and freezing rain, Monroe was cut off from the fuel supply because trucks couldn't get there. It I only took a few days and the local stations were out of gas.

The recent hurricane in the Southest is a good example of everything going wrong over a wide area. People said small generators were a critical piece of equipment because they kept most everything in the house powered up, lights, refrigerator, internet, TVs etc, and only use a very small amount of fuel compared to larger whole house generators. And they recharged their battery power supply so they used even less fuel.
Toast does not mean "disappear into the ocean".

It means widespread infrastructure damage, very little of it due to tsunami.

Did you actually read the aricle?
