Oft quoted advice that has no research to support the claim. There are lots of scenarios where making the first offer is advantageous, as long as you know what you're doing. In a salary negotiation if you do it wisely you can get the prospective employer to having anchoring bias to a number that they otherwise might never have been comfortable with.OP,
In any negotiation, whoever offer the first number loses. So, don't be the first.
