The fact that this forum mostly told people to stay the course and keep buying 0% yielding bonds of Intermediate duration was just the triumph of dogmatism over financial common sense.
This. When I first started thinking about moving into bonds, TIPS caught my attention. I REALLY liked the concept, but putting money into a product that had a negative real return was ... not enticing.

Did some research into real yields on 10 year Treasuries, and it looks like the average real return over 50-70 years is about 2%. Things look a bit more promising now for going with longer durations. 2%+ on TIPS looks pretty tasty.
