I think it would be worth it to get that last credit.

If she is eligible for her own benefits, she could start collecting it at age 62. She could then collect spousal benefits when you start collecting SS if her spousal benefit is greater than her own. Then if you pre-decease you, she will receive your SS benefit instead of her spousal benefit.

So another quarter of work credit could translate to a small, but real monthly check starting at age 62.
