Investing - Theory, News & General • Treasury Direct e-mail: undelivered gift bonds

Still undecided about what to do in my situation. I have $90K worth of face value Series I savings bonds purchased for a young family member for future expenses (college or otherwise) which were planned for delivery over a period of 9 more years (already delivered $10K in 2024).

I'm somewhat surprised that there has been no additional communication or clarification around this formerly urgent-seeming matter. I have to assume that there would be SOME form of additional notification before a major system or functionality change, but I know that isn't guaranteed. Disbursement annually on a birthday was the original plan.

I suppose there's no real drawback to delivering now except that some of the joy of delivering and receiving each year is gone. On the flip side, having complete visibility of the grand total immediately may be assistive for educational planning purposes for the parents.

Suggestions?
If you haven’t delivered them yet, why do it now? Send an email to TD with facts and what you want to do…and conclude with a statement like, I do not currently plan to deliver x years of gift ibonds this year and interpret asap as being the birthdate years and if TD changes the regs to force me to deliver them earlier (would be over $10k to a recipient each year), I look forward to reading them as to applicability to my situation…or words like that. If TD has a different opinion, please advise asap.
