I use Vanguard PAS since they can do things better for me with tax efficiency. I get automated tax loss harvesting. When I need to sell shares, they know the shares with the lowest capital gains. When I needed to see shares to fund my Donor Advised Fund, my advisor finds the shares with the highest capital gains. Go with VanguardYou could use Vanguard's Personal Advisory Service to manage the portfolio for 0.30% (which is 1/5 of what MS is charging you, and is less than 1/3 of what Fidelity is charging you.
- 1.5% Mgmt fees: Morgan Stanley Private Wealth mgmt. Avg. ROI 8.5% past 5 years.
- .98% Fidelity Private Mgmt. Avg. ROI 8.5% past 10 years.
- 0% fees. Put it all in the S&P Index (FXAIX) just like Buffet says.
Backstory: we’ve been with MS for over 15 years. Fees are just crazy and the customer service, or lack thereof, is horrible.
- Risk tolerance: a 10 (10 being high tolerance, 0 being risk averse.)
Fidelity shows great customer service and a real strategy for retirement.
I really cant manage the portfolio myself due to lack of time and knowledge.
What say you?
You'd likely have a much simpler portfolio with dramatically lower fees and probably "middle of the road" to "bad" customer service if you believe some of the posts in this forum about Vanguard.
In my experience, Vanguard has been excellent, but I don't need to call them every other month either... So there's that.
